Genevieve Nnaji: who is the father of her child?

genevieve nnaji

Dotun Oladipo alias ACURA, popular youth leader and grass root politician has vehemently denied that he is the father of the love child Genevieve had when she was 16 years old as claimed by her family.

Acura says  he will not accept paternity until a DNA test is carried out. He claims that whatever happened between him and Genevieve occured when they were both very young and naive (Genevieve was 15 and Acura was 20 years old at the time). Acura further stated that he wasn’t the only one romantically involved with the then 15yr old and would not accept the paternity of the child until proper DNA tests was conducted. in his words: “without a proper DNA test done, i will not accept that i am the father of her daughter”

come to think of it, if Genny was 15 at the time, wouldn’t child abuse charges be waved at our loverboy. doesn’t that constitute as rape in some countries?boy, i love naija!!

Timaya adds S Class Benz to his car collection

Dj Untee and Timaya

Dj Untee and Timaya

Timaya has added to his collection of automobiles a Mercedez Benz, S-Class model.

sources say that the port harcourt based singer deemed it necessary to purchase the mecedez benz for his personal use whenever he storms the city of Lagos rather than charter taxi cabs like he did in the past.

Although the singer has refused to disclose the exact figures to the press we gathered that the mercedez s-class,was purchased at an estimated cost of N5million

Timaya, before his latest  aquisition, already has a Toyota Spider and Camry, Dodge Durango and Rover in his car garage in Port Harcourt. we hear that he is also in the verge of purchasing a house in the “mega city” as well.

After a very successful debut, Nigeria’s reggae/dancehall phenom recently released his sophomore effort titled ‘Gift and Grace’. The album features the production prowess of hot nigerian producers like K-Solo, Jeggs, Akeem D’ Beat and Terry G.

“How to write a hit song” – Faze

Faze - he calls himself the Nigerian King of R&B

Faze - he calls himself the Nigerian King of R&B

In a recent media interview, one of nigeria’s hottest r&b singer Faze revealed what i would call his secret recipe to writing a hit song. Faze whose second album, Originality boasts of a massive hit single of the same title disclosed to the press that he knew the song was going to be a hit because it was “different.”

So how does he do it? how does he tell if he’s got a winner in his hands? well here are his tips:

1. Dare to be different.

“It’s not what you’ve seen in history. people don’t write about tattoos like when tattoo girls came out. It’s not the everyday ‘I love you’, ‘Let me hold you’ songs. That’s the thing.”

2. Do not  rely on your own instincts when recording a song, engage other professional ears.

I don’t do it myself. I play it for other people to listen to and I see their reaction.

3.  Don’t stop working on the song til you get the kind of reaction you want.

When I see that people’s reaction are not positive enough, I go back to work on it.

4. Do not sample the opinion of your colleagues, but your fans

Funny enough, I don’t play my songs to my musician friends because they’ll always give me problems and some of them might want to condemn me.

I’d rather play it to those who are going to buy it- my fans. I just gather a couple of people and say ‘guys listen to this’ and watch out for their reactions.

This very simple strategy is always very difficult to follow. if you are an artiste manager or publicist, you’ll agree with me when i say that artistes hate sampling opinions bout their music because they thing they’re “hot.”  and when they do..it’s usually family and friends who are already used to their sound. hey..they won’t buy your  music..they want free copies..so please follow Faze’s lead ok?

Faze’s interview makes an interesting read.

Meanwhile, Faze already has 27 shows booked from now until the festive season is over, and they are all here in Nigeria. did i hear you say ching-ching?!!!

DARE Art Alade TO TOUR WITH SEAN KINGSTON

Dare Alade

Dare Alade

He’s taken the risk of putting together an album with identifiable character. Away from the era of experimental materials, he’s created a full soul/R&B LP that’ll define his direction and establish him as a deserving apostle of the genre romanticized by lovers, thinkers and romantics all over the world.

And it’s beginning to appear the risk will bear quick dividends. Although the full album is still scheduled for a February 2009 release, the string of singles that have come forth, have caused us all to shower the young man with all the adulations we can muster. With ‘not the girl’ especially, Darey has won an overwhelming community of new converts. If you liked his voice and good looks, but didn’t exactly like the kind of songs he put out on his first album, then ‘not the girl’ is the song that’ll make you scream: ‘‘yeah, he found the right kind of song for his voice!’’

Dare teamed up with revered Nigerian producers Cobhams Asuquo and TY Mix to cook unDAREYted , his second solo album that’ll contain not the girl, more, with this woman, no stars and others. But that’s story for another day.

As a first in a series of upcoming tours, he’ll this week head to Southern Africa to join Jamaican-American singer Sean Kingston and Michigan-born soul star Dwele for a multi-city tour that’ll cover Zambia, Jo’Burg, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Botswana and Tanzania.

Sources close to the singer say he is the only African act on the bill; and that the deal was brokered by his US-based promoter.

‘‘Yes we’re touring with Sean Kingston this December, but that’s as much as I can say now’’, the singer told reporters in Abuja early this week.

The tour is being put together by Worldwide perspectives.

According to the singer’s manager Solomon Shonaiya, there are more tours and concerts in the offing, ‘because the dream is to build a global brand. The first Soul/R&B star from Africa to take the whole world hostage – that’s where were aiming at’.

Darey’s new album unDAREYted, the much-awaited follow up to his 2006 experimental debut From me 2 u, will hit shelves from February 2009.
