Seun Kuti debuts in France

Seun Kuti & Egypt 80 unveils his debut Album in France. The carefully packaged album which was produced both in France and motherland, Nigeria was released in France during the weekend.

The eponymous effort, is full of raging indictments and conscious politics as his father’s work was, such as “Mosquito Song,” where Seun chides government’s negligence towards fighting malaria outbreak.

Although the youngest son of legendary Fela Anikulapo Kuti’s intends to preserve his father’s vision through his music, his debut also revealed the exploration of a unique identity by the artiste. “”Fela was a very great man, but of course, like every professional artist, Seun wants to define himself, and I believe he has carved his own unique identity while carrying his father’s torch on this album,” says a source.

The self tilted album will also be released in the United Stated on June 24, 2008, while the Nigerian version of the self titled work would be released in Nigeria later in the year as soon as proper marketing arrangements have been made.
Seun Kuti and Egypt 80 will also be launching a brief US tour – that will run from the 20th of June to July 13 – to support the record as well.
