Now Muzik finally speaks on ‘Beef’ With Ruggedman

As the rumoured ‘beef’ brewing between Ruggedman and Nigeria’s premiere artiste management company, Now Muzik dies down, the latter clears the air on what appears to be an exodus of their repertoire of clients from their stable.

Responding to reports of the alledged beef, Now Muzik’s head honcho says these reports are most likely brewed by people who always expect good relationships to end on a sour note.

“People love drama, they get creative and invent weird conspiracy theories because it’s always more interesting to see artistes fight with their [label] and management. They want us to spill secrets and trade insults,” says Now Muzik’s boss, Efe Omorogbe, who insists the outfit still has a very cordial relationship with all of the disengaged acts.

His further justifies his claim by referring to similar ‘beef’ reports that filtered into the media when Tunde and Wunmi Obe parted ways with the outfit 2yrs ago. He stated that the duo’s reconnection with the outfit last year would be very unlikely if their past relationship ended as sour as it was reported by the media.

Now muzik, which announced its disengagement from Muma Gee, Felix Duke, Ruggedman and Freestyle late last year, commenced Management operations in 2008 by announcing their disengagement from four more acts namely Inferno, Maideena, Tony Harmony and Niyola.

On why the label is experiencing such of port folio draught, Mr Efe Omorogbe reveals:  “after a review of 2006, we knew it had become imperative to downsize. Our response was to put a cap to the number of artistes on the number of artistes on the line-up… Now we have achieved a massive scale down from 16 to 8 acts. Our ideal number is actually six so we’ll still be on the look out to see if we [can meet our target].”

From the present line up – Obiwon, Nigga Raw, Sunny Neji, Ill Bliss, Thrill Squad, T.W.O, Mr Kool and Paul Play Dairo – it’s hard to guess which two acts will accept a ‘mutual disengagement agreement.’ But when the deed is done, you’ll be the first to know.
