MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMA 08): and the nominees are…

MTV Networks Africa has announced the contenders for the first ever MTV Africa Music Awards with Zain (MAMA).

the nominee list was unveiled at a vip gathering at Planet 1 in  Lagos by Alex Okosi, Senior Vice President and Managing Director, MTV Networks Africa and Norman Moyo, Chief Marketing Officer, Zain Nigeria.

P-Square rules with about five nominations (best group, best live performer, best R&B, best video and artist of the year.), followed closely by D’banj with four nominations(Best Male, Best Live Performer, . Artist of the Year and Listener’s Choice Award); 9ice contends Lil Wayne and The Game for the Best Hiphop Act while P-Square battles Akon and Rhianna for Best RnB Act.  I can’t wait for the showdown in  November 22!!

The MTV Africa Music Awards with Zain will be hosted by U.K. radio presenter and club DJ Trevor Nelson in Abuja on November 22.  The inaugural event is expected to air on several stations across Africa that includes MTV base, channels RTGA (DRC), TV3 (Ghana), NTV (Kenya), AIT (Nigeria), STV (Nigeria), TBC (Tanzania) and WBS (Uganda),among others from November 29.
